Ted Garbeff is a research engineer at the experimental fluid physics branch at NASA Ames Research Center. His work is focused towards the design of wind tunnel experiments, with an emphasis on model instrumentation and controls. Over the past five years Ted has been involved in several successful wind tunnel tests including: characterizing the aero-acoustics of the Crew Exploration Vehicle during launch abort maneuvers, developing new wind tunnel based methods for quantifying the sonic boom of next generation super-sonic business jets, testing the performance of new concepts for cruise efficient short takeoff and landing passenger jets, and quantifying the wake of space capsules upon atmospheric reentry. In his spare time Ted enjoys hiking with his dog, scuba diving with his wife, playing music, and dabbling in art and electronics.
