Marianne Ryan serves as Director of Leadership & Engagement at Singularity University. She’s also an alum of Singularity University’s first Graduate Studies Program in 2009. Marianne is an ethicist and attorney whose work explores the humanistic impact of disruptive innovation upon our personal values, as well as our relationships with one another. Her research examines the cultural, policy, ethical, and legal implications of sociotechnical ecosystems for the future of humanity. She created an existential risk assessment framework called “frontier phronesis” as a decisionmaking tool under conditions of uncertainty that involve emerging technologies. A vocalist who has performed with choral groups nationwide, Marianne enjoys putting the “sing” in Singularity!
